Due to her unique style and warm but direct approach; it is clear to see why Sian Jones is now one of the most sought after therapists in Kent. Not only is Sian a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist she is also formally trained in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Relationship Counselling. She has an unrivalled success rate and a solid reputation for privacy and discretion. Outside of self and GP referrals a amount of her bookings coming from past clients recommendations.
Sian has been working full time as a therapist for the past four and a half years and prior to that on a part time basis. However, Sian hasn’t necessarily taken what some might call a ‘normal’ route in order to become a Counsellor. Her background, is in fact within the corporate world of ‘Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd’ where she worked for many years in a variety of management roles. To some, this might appear far removed from what she does now, but Sian firmly believes the training, structure and discipline she gained during this time has contributed greatly in her becoming a successful therapist. Sian believes that the exposure to this type of environment has enabled her view of a ‘wider’ world and not just that of a therapy room. She has gleaned a great insight into the dynamics of a vast number of people on both the personal and professional level along with the wealth of contribution of her own life experiences.
It was in the early years of her career at Coca- Cola that Sian quickly realised her strengths lie in dealing with and understanding people, as customers and colleagues alike were drawn to her for coaching, help and advice. This led to Sian taking the decision to completely change direction and pursue a career in Counselling. Over a six year period, whilst working full time, Sian undertook a degree in Psychology in order to train to become a Psychotherapist and Counsellor followed a couple of years later by qualifying as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. In addition to her academic training she also worked on a voluntary basis for ‘Victim Support’ specialising in supporting victims of domestic violence and serious sexual crime. Again, Sian believes this has given her a rich and valued experience of dealing with people in an honest and straightforward but empathetic way.
Sian will be the first to agree that she does not in any way, shape or form to fit what some would call the ‘stereotypical’ counsellor who will just sit there and nod. She takes an active role in helping individuals realise what they set out to achieve; and it’s this individual, refreshing counselling style that Sian receives most positive feedback about.
